About the National Implementation Plan Update Survey Form

In order to update the National Implementation Plan (NIP) prepared for fulfilling the obligations under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), the National Implementation Plan Update Survey Form has been distributed.

With this form, it is aimed to update the National Implementation Plan prepared within the scope of the Regulation on Persistent Organic Pollutants published in the Official Gazette dated 14.11.2018 and numbered 30595, to include information about the production, import-export, use, stocks, and wastes of the chemical substances listed in the annexes of the regulation.

It is stated that the requested information regarding the chemicals regulated under the Regulation on Persistent Organic Pollutants should be filled out in the attached form and sent to the email address [email protected] by April 20, 2024.

The relevant announcement of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, General Directorate of Environment Management, is as follows:

"TO DISTRIBUTION POINTS

As known, it is the responsibility of our Ministry to fulfil the obligations under the "Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)" to which our country is a party and to ensure the necessary coordination with relevant institutions/organizations. The "Regulation on Persistent Organic Pollutants" was published in the Official Gazette dated 14.11.2018 and numbered 30595 for the implementation of the said convention.

Within this context, pursuant to Article 7 of the aforementioned Convention, the National Implementation Plan (NIP) consisting of action plans covering many issues such as inventory information on persistent organic pollutants present in our country, their usage, export, import, production, distribution, and source, evaluation of polluted areas, existing stocks, and disposal facilities, infrastructure related to persistent organic pollutants, legal regulations, monitoring, research and development capacity, establishment and use of monitoring system, has been prepared, submitted to the Secretariat of the Convention, and necessary updates have been made.

It is necessary to update the information regarding the aforementioned chemical substances, including the production, import-export, use, stocks, and wastes of mixtures and products containing these chemical substances, within the scope of the chemicals listed in the annexes of the Stockholm Convention and the aforementioned regulation.

In this context, pursuant to Article 12 of the Environmental Law, I kindly request your information and action regarding the filling out of the NIP Update survey form for your institution/organization related to the chemical substances included in the same attachment by April 20, 2024, and sending it to the email address [email protected]."
