Biocidal Product Types in accordance with “Turkish Biocidal Products Regulation"

Main Group 1: Disinfectants and General Biocidal Products (Product Type 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Product Type 1: Biocidal Products Related to Human Hygiene: Products that are used for humans and provide hygiene are in this group. Disinfectants, antibacterial products for human use are in Product Type 1.

Product Type 2: Disinfectants and Biocidal Products Used in Private and Public Areas: The products in this group are intended for air, surface, equipment, article, furniture disinfection. Algae products, antibacterial or hospital surface disinfectants are under this group. Products used directly for food or feeding stuffs are not included in this group. This group of disinfection, antibacterial or algae killers are used for swimming pools, bath and other waters, wastewater, aquarium, soil, air conditioning systems, remedial treatment of construction, floors and walls in other institutions such as health institutions, chemical toiletries, hospital waste and playgrounds.

Product Type 3: Biocidal Products for Veterinary Hygiene: The living area of the animals, the area they are kept in, or the products used in the area they are moved to are included in this group. These types of products are used for veterinary hygiene.

Product Type 4: Food and Feed Disinfectants: Products used for the protection or disinfection of various equipment, consumption utensils, storage containers, various surface sand pipelines against microorganisms are under this group.

Product Type 5: Drinking Water Disinfectants: They are products used for disinfection of drinking water used for animals or humans.

Main Group 2: Preservatives (Product Type 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13)

Product Type 6: Preservatives for Products During Storage: Used for the preservation of manufactured products, other than food stuffs, feeding stuffs, by the control of microbial deterioration to ensure their shelf life.

Product Type 7: Film Preservatives: These products are used for the preservation of films or coatings by the control of microbial deterioration or algal growth in order to protect the initial properties of the surface of materials or objects such as paints, plastics, sealants, wall adhesives, binders, papers, art works, various materials and articles and films or coatings.

Product Type 8: Wood preservatives: Products are used with the purpose of protecting a wide variety of wood materials against microorganisms. This group includes products that control and protect harmful microorganisms for all kinds of woods used by people and all kinds of woods used in corporate areas.

Product Type 9: Leather, Fiber, Polymer and Rubber Materials Preservatives: Biocides used to protect fibrous or polymer products are under this group. Usage areas can be specified as protection against organisms such as textile products, paper, leather, rubber, etc., which have polymer or fibrous structure.

Product Type 10: Construction Material Preservatives: Biocides used to ensure the protection and improvement of paints, masonry and building materials against microorganisms are assessed under this group. Biocidal Products that are evaluated under this group are applied with the aim of protecting the own structure of the product they are using.

Product Type 11: Preservatives for Liquid-Cooling and Processing Systems: Biocides that protect the environment against harmful microorganisms such as microbes, mussels, algae, or which control these harmful microorganisms during the cooling of water or other liquids, especially treatment systems, are evaluated under this group. Products used for the disinfection of drinking water or of water for swimming pools are not included in thisproduct-type.

Product Type 12: Slimicides: Products are used to prevent or control the slime formation which may occur on the materials, equipment and structures in the industrial process such as on wood and paper pulp, porous sand strata in oil extraction.

Product Type 13: Working or Cutting Fluid Preservatives: Biocidal Products used to control microbial degradation in the protection of metalworking fluids are under this group.

Main Group 3: Biocidal Products Used in Pest Control (Products Type 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19)

Product Type 14: Rodenticides: Used for the control of mice, rats or other rodents, by means other than repulsion or attraction.

Product Type 15: Avicides: Used for the control of birds, by means other than repulsion or attraction.

Product Type 16: Mollusicides: Biocidal Products that are used for the control of molluscan groups, are under this group.

Product Type 17: Piscicides: Biocidal Products that are used for the control of fish, are under this group. However, they should not be considered as products that treat fish diseases.

Product Type 18: Insecticides: The biocidal products used to control acaricides and other arthropods are in this group.

Product Type 19: Attractants and Repellents: Used to control harmful organisms (invertebrates such as fleas, vertebrates such as birds), by repelling or attracting, including those that are used for human hygiene either directly or indirectly.

Main Group 4: Other Biocidal Products (Product Type 20, 21, 22, 23)

Product Type 20: Food or Feed Stock Preservatives: Biocidal products aimed at protecting food or feed deposits against harmful organisms. (has been abolished with "Regulation on the Amendment of the Regulation on Biocidal Products" Article 22 published by the Ministry of Health dated March 12, 2014 and number 28939)

Product Type 21: Antifouling Products: Microbes, higher forms of plant or animal species can disrupt the surfaces of structures used in water or in contact with water. Biocidal Products that are used to control the growth and settlement of fouling organisms are under this group. Usage areas can be summarized as boat, yacht, other structures used in water, aquaculture equipment.

Product Type 22: Embalming and Taxidermist Fluids: Biocidal Products, which are used in the disinfection as well as the protection of human or animal corpses, are under this group.

Product Type 23: Products Used in the Control of Other Vertebrate Animals: They are biocidal products which are used to control harmful insects or animals.
